What is content marketing?

Content marketing is the creation and distribution of valuable, relevant and consistent content in order to attract and acquire a relevant audience to promote your ROI.

There are 27,000,000 pieces of content shared every day on Facebook. Sadly, in general only 63.4% of content is original. Original or not, content marketing has become one of the top three marketing trends in 2014. Creating and promoting relevant content in your industry has positive impacts for strategic marketing plan.

But how do we share content now-a-days?

The top three types of advertising that have the most impact on buying decision are; television with 83%, magazines 50%, and online 47%. The Consumer Trends Report states that there has been a +27.8% increase in mobile use, +3.5% increase in tablet use, and a -5.5 decrease in computer use. With the increased use of mobile phones and access to the Internet, 65% of all emails are being opened first on a mobile device. Social networking sites have also taken over the Internet scene. The most popular social networking sites are Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The estimated unique monthly visitors per site are shocking, with Facebook leading the way.

I don’t know about you, but when I don’t know the answer to something I ask a search engine. 93% of online research starts with a search engine, and 68% of consumers check out companies on social networking sites before buying.

The benefits of having a responsive design are an increase in traffic and conversion rates, but most importantly an increase in customer satisfaction.   • 67% more leads per month on average are generated for B2B companies who blog than non-blogging firms
  • 63% of readers are more likely to be influenced by blogs than magazines when deciding on a purchase
  • 42% of consumers look to blogs for information about potential purchases
  • 52% say blogs have influenced their purchase decisions
  • 57% of marketers have obtained new customers from their blogs

B2B marketers are smartening up and realizing that content is king. AND more than 3 out of 4 (77%) B2B marketers use a blog as part of their content marketing mix. Overall 93% of B2B marketers now use content marketing as part of their overall marketing plan. Not surprisingly social media leads the way with 87% of B2B content marketers leveraging one or more platforms.

So now that you’re motivated to get you’re content marketing on the go, just wait a minute and remember; it is very important to document your content strategy. 66% of the most effective content marketers have a “documented content strategy”, and 86% have a dedicated person or team managing that strategy!
